FALLS CHURCH, Va. (WUSA9) -- The Orange and Silver Lines are still experiencing delays after rails cracked at the East Falls Church Metro station on Friday morning.
Trains are no longer single tracking tracking through East Falls Church but delays remain.
Earlier there were delays of 20 to 30 minutes as crews respond to the area.
Earlier tweets from Metro say there were two broken rails, with trains not getting through between McLean and Ballston on the Silver Line. There was no train service on the Orange Line between West Falls Church and Ballston.
Riders were bundled up on the outdoor platforms feeling like Metro, literally, left them out in the cold.
Riders were encouraged to find other transportation options from stations west of Ballston.
"They should make some accommodations for people when it's this cold," said one rider.
In fact, Metro blamed the frigid temperatures for the cracked rail the 2nd in as many days. But one rider thought maintenance played a factor too, "This is the Metro system for the Nation's Capital!" she said, "it should be better maintained."
