Woman crossing street struck, killed in DC crash

The deadly crash happened just before 3 a.m.

WASHINGTON — A pedestrian has died after being hit by the driver of a vehicle in Northwest D.C. early Thursday.

Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department say a woman was crossing the street, while not in a crosswalk, on 16th Street Northwest, nearby Rock Creek Park Holly Trail, just before 3 a.m. A vehicle traveling northbound on the road then hit her.

The woman, identified as 31-year-old Heidy Rocio Lovo Marquez of Takoma Park, Maryland, was pronounced dead at the location. 

The person driving the vehicle remained at scene.
