WASHINGTON — A 38-year-old Silver Spring woman has been arrested after an attempted kidnapping that happened on a Metrobus in mid-December.
The Metro Transit Police Department (MTPD) informed the public on Friday, Dec. 15 that a person was caught on camera in connection to an attempted kidnapping that happened on P12 Route Metrobus. Police said the crime happened around 1:30 p.m. in the area of Southern Avenue Southeast, off of 9th Street Southeast, close to the D.C.-Maryland state line.
Transit police said that she attempted to remove a young child from a stroller while aboard the train, but she was stopped before taking the child and escaped. Authorities released the image captured of her on the bus -- asking for the public's help identifying her.
Since the attempted kidnapping, police were able to identify the woman as Christina Marie Acker, and she was located at the Congress Heights Metro Station in Southeast D.C., where she was arrested.
Police have not yet said what charges Acker will face.
