WASHINGTON -- Winter is steadily approaching and what better way to start the holiday season than with ice-skating!
Multiple outdoor ice rinks in the Washington D.C. area are opening their doors during these next few weeks as the holiday season begins.
The Washington Harbor Ice Rink opens Friday, November 16, and will remain open until March. This rink is Washington’s largest outdoor ice rink and skaters get to glide along the ice next to the Potomac River. If the chilly weather makes you too cold, you can grab a warm beverage from one of the restaurants surrounding the rink.
The Ice Rink at the National Gallery of Art and Sculpture Garden opens Monday, November 19, 2018 and will remain open until March 10, 2018. When all that ice-skating tires you out stop by the Pavilion Café to grab a treat and enjoy the panoramic views of the Sculpture Garden from the café.
Pentagon Row’s Ice Rink in Pentagon City has been opened since late October, but from November 26 to January 1 the rink will feature “Snow on the Row.” During this time skaters get to experience a light snowfall on the ice. The Outdoor Ice Rink will remain open until mid-March.
The Wharf Ice Rink is set to open December 2, 2018 and will stay open through late February. The rink is located at Transit Pier and set directly next to the water.
The Canal Park Ice Rink is already open for business and the rink will remain open through February.
If you're looking for a view, the ice skating rink on top of the Watergate Hotel is open. It's $20 for adults and $10 for kids to rentals and skating time. They're also offer a skate-up bar complete with hot cocoa, cocktails, mocktails, beer, wine and more.
There is plenty of time to lace up some ice skates and hit the ice before Spring is here. Take the whole family to one of these rinks for a fun Winter activity.
