WASHINGTON — Crews investigated a reported carbon dioxide leak on the fourth floor of a D.C. building Monday afternoon.
According to DC Fire and EMS, the leak was reported in the 600 block of 14th Street, NW, shortly before 4:30 p.m.
Investigators said the report is due to a refrigeration unit that appeared to be leaking carbon dioxide. HAZMAT crews were called to the area.
Just after 5:45 p.m., DC Fire and EMS posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, saying the leak was mitigated, the area ventilated and readings were now normal.
Three people were evaluated and did not require further medical attention.
While crews investigated the leak, F and G Streets in the area were closed. The roadways have since reopened.
