'Snow Heroes' help clear out snow from people's homes; here's how to help

D.C.'s "Snow Heroes" are part of ServeDC – a D.C. government agency focused on service and volunteerism.

WASHINGTON — Right now, there are hundreds of volunteers out in D.C. working in the cold shoveling snow off of sidewalks and driveways for many of our neighbors in D.C. – primarily those who are elderly or just physically can not clear all that snow off their property.

D.C.'s "Snow Heroes" are part of ServeDC – a D.C. government agency focused on service and volunteerism.

This particular group is helping out in Congress Heights, and some of the members told WUSA9, they're assigned to help at least 80 resident's in D.C. before day's end.

The director of ServeDC also said that throughout the city, these volunteers will help at least 500 people on Friday, and they need more help.

ServeDC will provide you with all the materials you need – including a shovel, hat and sweatshirt.

Typically, these volunteers try to get the work done within 24-36 hours after it stops snowing.

If you'd like to help or if you need help... call 202-727-7925 or go to their website.
