Second Chances job fair comes to DC April 20

Anyone struggling to find employment in the District is encouraged to attend the fair at the DC Dream Center in SE from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. April 20.

WASHINGTON — Get hired on the spot Thursday in D.C. at the Nationwide Day of Second Chance's job fair in Southeast.

From 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., Better Together, in partnership with Anacostia River Church, is hosting the job fair at the DC Dream Center located at 2826 Q Street, SE.

Anyone struggling to find employment in the District is encouraged to attend.

Officials say employment barriers can come in many forms including homelessness, previous incarceration, lack of child care or transportation, or even gaps on a resume due to the pandemic.

Better Together, a national nonprofit, is teaming up with churches across America to promote second chances through these job fairs.

Officials say the fairs will feature employers who are ready to offer jobs on the spot, giving hope to those struggling with applying for jobs online.

In addition, other resources at the fair will include free one-on-one job coaching sessions to review resumes and interviewing skills, free haircuts and clothing to help candidates feel and look their best.

Better Together is a nonprofit organization that helps parents going through a hard time keep their kids out of foster care, find work and address the root causes of their struggle so that they can reunite as a family with the tools and support system to thrive.
