Police investigate deadly shooting in Southeast

The shooting happened in the 2300 block of S Street, Southeast.

WASHINGTON — DC Police are investigating after a man was shot to death in Southeast on Wednesday night.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting around 6:45 p.m. in the 2300 block of S Street, Southeast, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

When first responders arrived, they found a man who had been shot. He was not conscious and not breathing at the time. He was later pronounced dead.

He was identified by police on Thursday as Lance Anthony Holmes, a 65-year-old man from Southeast, DC.

No other details have been released.

A little more than two hours later, another shooting was reported in Southeast, this time along the 2900 block of Knox Place. When officers arrived, they found a man who had been wounded. There is no word on the victim's current condition at this time.

Police have not connected to two shootings.
