WASHINGTON — Eight-hundred Pepco customers and multiple traffic lights were without power Friday night, after an outage that initially impacted thousands in NoMa and Eckington.

The outage impacted areas near Florida and New York Avenues, and Q and R Street Northeast, according to the D.C. Department of Transportation.

"Most customers are expected to be restored by 8:30 p.m. tonight," Pepco said Friday at around 7 p.m. The energy company said that time is earlier than an initial restoration estimate, which mistakenly told customers that power would come back Saturday afternoon.

DDOT said Friday that traffic lights in the Eckington and NoMa were also impacted.

After the outage was first reported around 5 p.m. on Friday, Pepco said 2,197 customers were impacted.

"Crews remain on location to investigate and safely make repairs as quickly as possible," Pepco said.
