Police search for man seen vandalizing homes in Southeast DC

According to DC police reports, the suspect in the video ran off before officers arrived.

WASHINGTON — Residents in a Southeast DC neighborhood say a man has been terrorizing them for the past two weeks.

On June 28, La’mont Geddis' Ring camera captured a man smashing his parked vehicle at around 4 a.m., in the Greenway neighborhood, with what appears to be a large piece of wood.

Just days later on July 3, the same man returned. This time he smashed Geddis' front door and all his home windows, but not before dancing in front of the camera.

Fed up, Geddis told WUSA9, he opened the door and tried to scare off the suspect. Instead, he injured his foot with shattered glass.

“I was scared but at the time. I had adrenaline and that’s when I cut my foot. I probably shouldn’t have done it,” Geddis said.

Geddis told WUSA9 several other homes in the area have also been vandalized. He said he sleeps in fear and is unable to fully focus on recovering after a recent stroke.

“I’m always thinking someone is out there. I’m really scared, to be honest because, this is my home and whoever is doing this is coming at my home,” Geddis said.

According to DC police reports, officers responded to Geddis' home both times. The suspect in the video ran off before officers arrived. The incident is still under investigation.
