Pepco officials warn customers of scam.

WASHINGTON -- Third-party energy suppliers are sending fake utility bills through e-mail to some Pepco customers. Officials warn users about this scam.

In the email, it asks you to click on a link. But, by clicking on the link the computer may become infected with a virus or malware.

Pepco contacts customers in person or through phone. If you are ever unsure of whether or not you are speaking to a Pepco representative, call their number at 202.833.7500.
