Pedestrian in critical condition after hit-and-run crash in Northeast DC

No details have been released about what may have happened to cause the crash.

WASHINGTON — A pedestrian is suffering from serious injuries after a driver struck her with a vehicle in Northeast D.C. and then drove away Monday afternoon. Now, police are searching for the person responsible for the crime.

Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to C Street Northeast, nearby 16th Street Northeast, just before 3:50 p.m. after a report of a crash in the area. Upon arrival, they located a woman who had been struck by a vehicle.

Police confirmed to WUSA9 that the woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition. No further information has been released about the pedestrian, this includes her name, age, and where she is from.

Through an initial investigation, it has been determined that the driver, along with the vehicle that struck the woman, left the scene before arrival of police. No details have been released about what may have happened to cause the crash at this time. Police also said no one is in custody for the collision. 

The investigation into the crash is active and ongoing.
