WASHINGTON, D.C., USA — D.C. Police Chief Newsham announced an arrest to the largest heroin seizure in the D.C. area on Friday.
Linwood Douglas Thorne, 36, of Northeast, D.C. was arrested for distributing illegal drugs.
The D.C. Police Department worked with the FBI and the ATF to make the arrest.
According to Newsham, an undercover ATF agent purchased marijuana, heroin and firearms from the suspects, who were known for selling the items.
The suspects sold 9 firearms, 1,500 grams of marijuana and 270 grams of heroin, Newsham said. A search warrant was issued in December 2018 in Falls Church, Virginia. A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with multiple drug offenses, as well as multiple firearm offenses.
An additional search warrant was executed at the home of Thorne, who police say was the heroin supplier.
More than 40 kilos of heroin, over 40 pounds of marijuana, six semi-automatic handguns and a Maserati, as well as drug paraphernalia were seized.
Thorne was arrested in Baltimore, Maryland in January.
The wholesale value of the drugs is over $2 million, officials say.
Newsham said the heroin was laced with fentanyl.
