WASHINGTON -- After a violent Memorial Day weekend in the District, additional police and resources are coming into Wards 5, 7 and 8.
Since Friday, four people have been killed in nearly a dozen shootings in the city. Two of those shootings happened on Memorial Day.
To stop these crimes, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is putting more police officers out on the streets.
Police will be deploying 25 percent more resources into neighborhoods, recreation centers and pools in Wards 5, 7 and 8.
The city is also doing more check-ins with at-risk youth.
If you know anything about this spike in violence, call police. A $25,000 reward is being offered for information that could help.
