WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Metro's safety committee is holding a special meeting to review a report on last month's train derailment.
The report revealed that a problem with the tracks was detected a month before the derailment between the Federal Triangle and Smithsonian stations.
Thursday, we learned that Metro track inspectors walked by a bad section of track eight times before the derailment, but did not report the problem.
No one was hurt because the train was empty, but the derailment caused widespread problems throughout Metro's rail system.
