Police asking for the public's help identifying sexual abuse suspect from Northeast DC

Police say the suspect was captured by a nearby surveillance camera and are now asking the public to contact them if they can identify the person of interest.

WASHINGTON — A man is wanted for a sexual assault reported in Northeast D.C. on Wednesday, and now police are asking for the public's help identifying the suspect.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the suspect assaulted the victim just after 9 a.m. near the intersection of 8th and H Streets Northeast. The suspect then ran away. 

The suspect has been described as a man who was last seen wearing a black beanie-style hat, a blue hooded sweatshirt with a graphic on the front, gray or blue pants, and white sneakers. Officers claim the suspect was captured by a nearby surveillance camera and are now asking the public to contact them if they can identify the person of interest. 

Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call the police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's text tip line at 50411. Crime Solvers of Washington, D.C. currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia.
