WASHINGTON — A man is dead after an early Wednesday morning shooting in Southeast D.C., leaving police searching for answers in the homicide case.
Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to Southern Avenue Southeast, nearby Suitland Terrace Southeast, and right on the District of Columbia-Maryland state line, around 3:20 a.m., after hearing the sound of gunshots. Upon arrival at the scene, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds to the head.
Police said the man was not conscious and breathing, resulting in him being taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. But, he was pronounced dead. The man's identity has not been released, this includes his age, name, and where he is from.
According to the police department, through an initial investigation, it has been determined that the shooting happened outside of an apartment.
No information has not been released about a person of interest in the case, as well as a motive behind the shooting.
The investigation into the case is active and ongoing.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
