Man dead after shooting in Southeast DC

DC Police have not released a motive in the fatal shooting or information about a person of interest in the case.

WASHINGTON — A shooting in Southeast D.C. left a man dead, and a roadway closed Tuesday morning as police investigate at the scene.

Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to Southern Avenue Southeast, right by the D.C.-Maryland state line, after a report of a shooting around 5:25 a.m. 

At the scene, officers found a man, later identified as 32-year-old Kelvin Blowe, of Lexington Park, MD, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the location and was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, police said.

DC Police have also not released a motive in the fatal shooting or information about a person of interest in the case.

While police conduct an investigation into the shooting, Southern Avenue Southeast has been closed between the 2400 and 2500 block.
