Metro grants Make-A-Wish request for critically ill boy

The bus was decorated with 'Happy Birthday' flair that included balloons, streamers, and banners to celebrate his big day.

WASHINGTON — A 10-year-old's birthday wish is coming true thanks to Metro.

Jacob Crandall turns 10 on March 13, and through Mid-Atlantic Make-A-Wish Foundation he was able to get his wish granted. Jacob, who has a critical illness, made a wish for he and his family to ride a Metrobus that displays his name on the destination sign of the bus.

And that wish came true on Wednesday.

The family took an around 30-minute roundtrip ride from Metro’s Western Bus Division. Then, upon their return, they got a special bus-themed cake and Metro gear.

This marks the first Make-A-Wish event Metro has coordinated, with teams across the organization coming together to help with the wish.
