8 dogs rescued from Southwest DC apartment fire - including 2 puppies

The fire was in the 200 block of M Street Southwest.

WASHINGTON — Eight dogs, including two puppies, were rescued from a burning building in Southwest D.C. on Friday, the fire department said.

DC Fire and EMS first tweeted about the fire just before noon, which was located in a two-story building in the 200 block of M Street Southwest.

The fire was contained to the first floor of the building.

No people were injured but eight dogs were rescued ─ one of which had to be taken to an animal hospital for further treatment.

The fire department said that the dog that needed treatment was lifeless, but "CPR, oxygen and tender loving care successfully revived the animal."
