WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Drivers, consider yourselves warned! The District is putting up seven new photo enforced cameras. Six of them are speed cameras the other is a stop sign camera.
The Metropolitan Police Department says the cameras will begin operation Monday, January 5 and there will be a 30-day warning period or "educational phase." During this window, violators will receive warning citations. Afterwards, violators will get tickets.
Here are the new photo enforcement locations according to MPD:
New Speed Camera Locations
3400 block 34th Street, NW (north bound where the speed limit is 25 mph)
100 block Michigan Avenue, NW (east bound where the speed limit is 25 mph)
100 block Irving Street, NW (west bound where the speed limit is 35 mph)
Unit block Irving Street, NW (east bound where the speed limit is 35 mph)
3000 block North Capitol Street, NW (south bound where the speed limit is 40 mph)
3600 block Eastern Avenue, NE (southeast bound where the speed limit is 25 mph)
