WASHINGTON — A new grocery store is coming to D.C. and hiring and training is already underway. Wegmans Food Markets' first store will open in Northwest in 2022.

According to a press release, the store will be located at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Rodman Street as part of the historic building that formerly housed the Fannie Mae headquarters.

Wegmans plans to hire approximately 450 people at the new store, including 150 full-time positions. They plan to hire a majority of the employees locally.

Those interested in full-time positions are encouraged to apply online at Wisconsin Ave Alexandria Jobs. Available full-time positions include entry-level management, customer service, overnight grocery and culinary roles such as chefs and line cooks.

Hiring to part-time positions will start at a later date.

“Here at Wegmans, you’ll receive in-depth training that’s unrivaled in our industry, allowing you to drive your own development and grow with the company,” said Wisconsin Ave. Store Manager Kevin Russell, who began working for Wegmans 35 years ago. “You’re more than just a number, you’re an important part of our team who has a voice and an opportunity to build a career you are passionate about.”

Wegmans is a family-owned company. It has placed fourth on FORTUNE magazine’s list of “The 100 Best Companies to Work For.” The company has been in business since 1916 and operates 106 stores in seven states.
