One of the most popular Smithsonian museums in Washington D.C. is the National Air and Space Museum.
Nick Partridge, public affairs specialist with the museum, said the Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall is the museum’s central exhibit space.
“As it did before the renovation, this space has some of the most iconic artifacts, including the Lunar module and the Spirit of St. Louis and Friendship 7, but it also has some new artifacts including the original model of the USS Enterprise from the TV series Star Trek,” Partridge said.
There is a new digital exhibit that connects to a mobile app and website, which delivers content to visitors before, during and after their visit.
Another thing to see while you’re there, is the Wright Brothers and the Invention of the Aerial Age Gallery, which holds the original Wright Flyer.
"It’s one of the most fundamental artifacts anywhere in the Smithsonian, it made possible everything else you see in the museum," Partridge said.
If you have the time check out Space Race Hall, which is one of the largest exhibits.
"It includes a full scale test article of the Hubble Space Telescope, a backup of the Skylab space station that visitors can actually walk through, and currently on display, Columbia, the command module from Apollo 11 that took Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins to the moon," Partridge said.
