How to get to—or avoid—the Cherry Blossom Festival Parade

The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade will take place Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to noon.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) — As the cherry blossoms reach the end of their peak, crowds will gather in D.C. to celebrate their beauty.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade will take place Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to noon. The parade stretches down Constitution Avenue between 9th and 15th streets, Northwest.

The parade is free and open to the public, but people are encouraged to arrive early for the best views.

Road closures:

Streets will begin shutting down Friday at 7 p.m. Some closures will last into Sunday for D.C.’s Emancipation Day Celebration.

Metro:

The parade route is accessible from several Metro stations.

  • If you’re going to watch from the north side of Constitution Avenue, get off at Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter (Green/Yellow lines), Federal Triangle (Blue/Orange/Silver lines) or Metro Center (Blue/Orange/Red/Silver lines).
  • To stand on the south side Constitution Avenue, get off at L’Enfant Plaza (Blue/Green/Orange/Silver/Yellow lines) or Smithsonian (Blue/Orange lines)
