Woman with trauma found unconscious in motel room, now DC Police are investigate her death

An investigation is underway after a woman was found unconscious inside a Northeast hotel room.

WASHINGTON — Police are trying to figure out what happened after a woman was found unconscious inside a Northeast D.C. hotel room Friday morning. Officials pronounced her dead at the hotel.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the motel on New York Avenue, NE, for reports of an unconscious person inside a hotel room.

When officers arrived, they found a woman in the room who had apparent trauma. She was pronounced dead at the hotel.

While it has not been said what kind of trauma the woman appeared to endure, police are investigating her death as a homicide.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.

No suspect descriptions have been announced at this time.

In 2023, a Virginia woman was killed inside a room at the same motel. Christy Bautista was in town for a concert when police say a stranger forced himself into her room and stabbed her 30 times in the chest, back and head. Police have since charged George Sydnor, Jr. with her death.
