Great-grandmother gets keys to new apartment with help of donations

Geneva Weeks, 68, was able to pay off the rent she owed to her previous apartment and move into a new place.

WASHINGTON -- A grandma who took custody of three great-grandkids just received keys to her new apartment.

In February, Geneva Weeks, 68, was granted full custody of three of her great-grandchildren by a family court judge.

But by March, Weeks was facing eviction.

“She had no money to buy no clothes when they came the hospital, no bed, no none of that, so I took part of my rent money, and I bought what this baby needed, so that made me short on my rent," Weeks said. "I was trying to catch up, but I couldn’t. And the girls needed school clothes."

Now, thanks to viewer donations and contributions, Weeks was able to pay off the rent she owed to her previous apartment, and move into a new place.
