WASHINGTON — To start off 2020 in Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowers hosted her 6th Annual Fit DC Frest Start 5K on Wednesday, helping support and promote healthier living in the new decade.
The 5K started at Anacostia Park around 10 a.m. and was attend and participate in by both kids and adults.
"Starting the year with the city I love and call home. Ready for 2020!," said Bowers in a video on Twitter, before the 5k started.
According to city officials, the 5K is part of a partnership with AETNA, a medical insurance company.
It is not known how many people attended the 5K, but photos and videos from the event showed that a decent amount of people answered the early wakeup call.
