Metro is holding an art contest for students to celebrate Earth Day

Metro is asking students to illustrate how Metrorail, Metrobus, and MetroAccess play a role in combating climate change and protecting our environment.

WASHINGTON — Metro’s Art in Transit Program is inviting K-6th grade students across D.C., Maryland, and Virginia to submit art that highlights the role public transportation plays in fostering a sustainable environment in honor of Earth Day.

The art will be featured on three Earth Day-themed Metrobuses.

Metro is asking students to illustrate how Metrorail, Metrobus, and MetroAccess play a role in combating climate change, supporting sustainable communities, and protecting our environment.

If you would like to participate, simply submit one original piece of artwork which can be a drawing, print, collage, or painting. It must be horizontally oriented on a standard 8.5” by 11” paper size.

You can submit a photo in JPEG or JPG format and complete the form online here

The deadline for submissions is February 29. Metro will select 15 submissions in total, five from each jurisdiction, and the art will be displayed on buses in April.

By submitting artwork, parents and or guardians agree that it can be reproduced for this call and any associated promotional material, including social media.
