WASHINGTON — A 24-year-old woman died after a crash in Northwest D.C. Saturday night.
According to a Metropolitan Police Department preliminary investigation, Jessica Luna Sanchez, 24, of Northwest, was in the passenger seat of a Subaru when the crash happened. Police say the driver was speeding northbound on 16th Street Northwest when it tried to pass a BMW around 10:30 p.m.
The driver of that Subaru struck the front of the BMW and lost control, traveling across the southbound lanes of 16th Street and hitting a tree.
Despite lifesaving measures, Sanchez, who suffered severe injuries, was pronounced dead. The Subaru's driver, meanwhile, was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No one in the BMW was hurt.
Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should call the police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.
MPD detectives continue to investigate the crash.
