DC Republican Presidential Primary to be held March 1-3

Primary voting will take place over 3 days at a Northwest DC hotel.

WASHINGTON — The District of Columbia Republican Presidential Primary will be held over a 3-day period. Starting Friday, March 1, and running through Sunday, March 3, 2024.

Registered Republicans can cast their ballot for one of seven presidential candidates at the Madison Hotel on 15th Street in Northwest D.C.

The DC Republican Party, which is conducting this primary, says voting hours will be 8 am-7 pm all three days.

Here is a list of the Republican presidential candidates, in order of filing, who will appear on the ballot, along with campaign websites:

For all other offices, the Republican, Democratic and DC Statehood Green primaries will take place on June 4, 2024. The DC Board of Elections will be conducting these primaries.

The D.C. GOP says National Republican Party rules required they move their primary to an earlier date than June 4. Here is a link that helps explain these party rules: https://dcgop.com/voting-2024/

According to the DC Republican Party's website, there will be no vote by mail for this primary only; however, they did establish a voting process to accommodate active-duty military personnel, overseas voters, and people unable to vote in person due to injuries suffered in military service. The deadline to request this accommodation has since passed.

The Party's website also mentions there will be no on-site registration. Voters had to register as Republicans by February 16, 2024.

The D.C. GOP says all voters will need to bring a state-issued ID to the Madison Hotel.

"The information on your state-issued ID must match the information the DC Board of Elections provided. If a voter does have a voter registration card, we suggest bringing it with your voter ID. A voter registration card is NOT required."
