Police search for stolen car in DC kidnapping

Officials say a lime-colored 2014 Kia Soul with Virginia tags TVH-9942 was stolen with a child in it on Monday.

WASHINGTON — Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating after a car was reportedly stolen while a child was sleeping inside it in Northwest, D.C.

Officials say the lime-colored 2014 Kia Soul with Virginia tags TVH-9942 was stolen with a child in it on Monday around 6:50 p.m. This all took place in the 1700 block of Columbia Road after the car was left unattended with the boy inside.

The 5-year-old child was later found unharmed a short time after the incident, according to officials. Police are asking anyone who has information about the whereabouts of the stolen car or this incident to contact them at 202-727-9099 or the department's text tip line at 50411.

MPD said they are currently offering a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone that can provide information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in D.C.
