PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) — A DC police officer passed away on Friday afternoon after being hit by a car in Prince George’s County, Md., DC police said.
Officer Jamal Shaw was riding his motorcycle along the Piscataway Road, traveling westbound when a vehicle made an abrupt lane change, causing the officer to lay his bike down. In doing so, he was struck by another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.
Officer Shaw was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Officer Shaw joined DC police in May 2015 and had been recently assigned to the First District.
