Suspects in custody after 2 separate barricade situations in DC in less than an hour

Very little is known about the two barricades, which were roughly 12 miles away from each other.

WASHINGTON — Police were at the scenes of two different barricade situations in D.C. Friday night that have since been resolved.

According to information posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, by the Metropolitan Police Department, the first barricade was announced shortly after 8 p.m. That barricade happened in the 800 block of Taylor Street, Northeast.

Less than an hour later, police announced officers were on the scene of a second barricade situation in the 800 block of Chesapeake Street, Southeast.

"Avoid the area as we work to resolve the incident," police said on X regarding both incidents.

Very little is known about the two barricades, which were roughly 12 miles away from each other. However, it appears both may be connected to domestic situations.

In the Taylor Street barricade, DC Councilmember Zachary Parker said the barricade was a domestic situation with hostage negotiators on the scene. All residents were able to get out safely but the suspect remains barricaded.

Parker says there is no threat to the public at this time.

In the Chesapeake Street barricade, MPD said the suspect was involved in a prior domestic assault and no one else was inside the address.

As of 9:45 p.m., both barricades were resolved and the suspects were taken into custody peacefully.
