WASHINGTON (AP) - Police have identified a man who was shot after he allegedly carjacked a FedEx van on Christmas Eve in northeast Washington.
Police say 22-year-old Andy Thompson has been charged with armed carjacking and assault on a police officer in connection to the incident.
Police say officers received a call for an armed carjacking around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Police say officers pursued the vehicle and that Thompson shot at officers, who then returned fire. Police say Thompson was taken to the hospital.
Police say Thompson has also been charged with robbery and burglary in unrelated incidents.
