DC man dies in Eastern Ave car crash

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a car crash that left a 40-year-old D.C. man dead on Sunday morning.

Police said the crash happened on Eastern Avenue and Sargent Road, Northeast around 7:42 a.m. An officer on patrol from the Prince George's County Police saw a light green 2005 Volvo S80 at the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Sargent Road, NE.

Authorities said, the car collided with them metal traffic light pole on the southwest corner and was damaged.

Robert Charles Beasley of Northeast, D.C. was the only the person in the car and was found in the car, police said.

Police said Beasley was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
