WASHINGTON — An overnight fire left five people searching for a place to sleep on Easter Sunday.

According to DC Fire and EMS, crews were called to a three-story apartment building in the 3000 block of 30th Street, Southeast around 1:30 a.m.

When crews arrived, they found a fire burning in a top-floor bathroom. The fire has since been extinguished but the cause has not yet been released by officials.

No injuries were reported in the fire and five adults were displaced from their homes.

The Red Cross was notified to help those displaced and the Humane Rescue Alliance is helping aid two cats.
