'Black Panther' pop-up bar coming to DC's U Street

You can experience the movie "Black Panther" at a pop-up bar and interactive experience starting Thursday.

The highly-anticipated "Black Panther" movie premieres this weekend, but you can get ahead of the action on Thursday.

The Wave USA is unveiling its "Enter Wakanda" interactive experience and pop-up bar at the Red Lounge (located at 2013 14th Street NW) on Thursday, Feb. 15.

The bar will feature art installations, musical entertainment and a special drink menu.

“It began as an idea for a happy hour to compliment a private viewing for the movie and grew into something much more important.” Wave co-founder Gregory Jackson said. “We saw an opportunity to create the type of experience that would never be created for us, so we decided, if not us, then who?”

Local artists have created themed rooms and the event will be hosted in a black-owned DC restaurant in the U Street Corridor.

To go, you must purchase tickets. Tickets start at $5 during the day and $10 during DJ performances.

Tickets will also be available at the door for an additional fee. Tickets can be found at thewaveusa.com/blackpanther.
