WASHINGTON — Police say they have arrested a man responsible for killing a woman in Northwest D.C. early Tuesday.
Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to 11th Street Northwest, nearby M Street Northwest, after receiving a call just before 2:50 a.m. about a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, a woman, later identified as 31-year-old Reyna Garcia-Lopez, of Northwest D.C., was found inside a home suffering from stab wound injuries. She was pronounced dead at the location.
On Wednesday, members of the Great Lake Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 54-year-old Alberto Valle-Carranza, of Northwest, D.C. in Michigan City, Indiana. He was wanted on charges of second-degree murder.
Police say Valle-Carranza is in the process of being extradited back to D.C. to face charges.
