Venezuelan Embassy alarm prompts Secret Service search

All of the buildings at the embassy are vacant.

WASHINGTON — An alarm that went off on the grounds of the Venezuelan Embassy in Northwest D.C. on Thursday prompted the U.S. Secret Service to search the location.

Few details are known, but the Secret Service was alerted to the alarm around 5:30 p.m. and decided to perform a search.

"We conducted a thorough search of the premises and other buildings belonging to the Venezuelan embassy, but found no results," a spokesperson for the Secret Service told WUSA9.

All of the buildings at the embassy are vacant.
