WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Here are five things you need to know on Wednesday, April 9:
5. We are working hard to get answers about missing D.C. 8-year-old Relisha Rudd. Wednesday at 7 p.m., we'll have a special 30 minute broadcast dedicated to her case. We are committed to getting more information about who failed Relisha. Post your questions and comments on the WUSA9 Facebook page, or tweet them to us @wusa9.
4. Wednesday will be bright but brisk. Northwest winds will continue to gust over 20 mph and highs will hold in the low sixties. A weak disturbance will bring spotty showers in the afternoon. Thursday and Friday will be warmer.
3. Good news for drivers! Wednesday the District is kicking off Potholepalooza, an annual month-long D.C. tradition. DDOT will add extra staffing and promises to make pothole repairs within 48 hours after receiving a complaint. Right now they promise to fill those craters within three business days.
2. Wednesday is the day that contractors building the Silver Line could start facing $25,000 in daily fines for delays on that project. Tuesday night, Bechtel issued a statement saying it has made significant progress on Phase One of the project extending Metro to Dulles Airport and then Loudoun County.
1. D.C. Councilwoman Mary Cheh has proposed scrapping the D.C. Taxicab Commission as part of a sweeping transportation bill. She wants to re-organize the city's transportation agencies. The main part of the bill would siphon some current DDOT functions off to a new agency, the D.C. Transit Authority.
