WASHINGTON — Two people have been hospitalized after a crash in Southwest D.C. left them trapped in a vehicle early Monday.
Around 2:20 a.m., authorities with DC Fire and EMS responded to Half Street Southwest, nearby the Matthew Henson Earth Conservation Center, for a crash with an entrapment. Upon arrival, they found the vehicle overturned with two people inside -- trapped.
By 2:42 a.m., firefighters were able to free both people, a man and a woman, from the truck. At the time, the man was suffering from critical injuries and the woman had serious injuries. The duo was taken to a hospital to be treated.
Just before 3 a.m., the man's injuries were downgraded from critical to serious, officials said.
No information has been released about what caused the crash or any identifying information about the two people in the vehicle. The crash is under investigation.
