Shooting leaves 2 men injured in Northeast DC

According to DC Police, violent crime is up 41% since last year across the District.

WASHINGTON — Two men are suffering from injuries after a shooting in Northeast D.C. Tuesday evening.

Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department say they responded to Rhode Island Avenue Northeast, nearby 4th Street Northeast, after they received a call at 7:16 p.m. for a shooting that happened. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from injuries, but was conscious and breathing. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

While investigating the shooting, police located a second victim in the case -- another man. He was also conscious and breathing.

The identities of the two men who were injured have not been released, this includes their names, ages, and where they are from.

No information has been released about a person of interest or a motive in this case. The investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing.

According to DC Police, violent crime is up 41% since last year. As of Tuesday, there were 4,526 recorded cases of violent crime across the District, compared to 3,219 cases that were recorded within the same period of time in 2022.
