10 people, 2 dogs displaced after fire in Southeast DC

The fire happened in the 1900 block 17th Street Southeast.

WASHINGTON — Ten people can't go home after a building next door to them burned down on Sunday, DC Fire and EMS said.

The fire happened in the 1900 block 17th Street Southeast.

The fire department fought the fire in the 3-story building that was under construction. The fire appeared to devastate that building, and neighbors next door were not immune to its effects.

Five adults, five children, and two dogs from two homes were displaced as a result of the fire.

In video posted by the fire department, there was a burned fence and burned out car nearby the home.

No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No other details have been released.
