17-year-old injured in NW DC shooting, police searching for teen

DC police say they are looking for a teenager last seen running down M Street Northwest towards 4th Street in connection to the shooting.

WASHINGTON — A 17-year-old was sent to the hospital after allegedly being shot by another teenager in Northwest D.C. early Thursday morning. Now, police are searching for the person responsible. 

Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 1200 block of 5th Street after receiving a report of the sound of shots fired around 8:45 a.m. Once on scene, officers found a teenager with gunshot wounds. According to police, he was found conscious and breathing. 

The teen was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life threatening. 

Police said they are looking for a person they believe to be a teenager wearing all black clothing last seen running down M Street Northwest towards 4th Street. He was seen on a nearby surveillance camera, which can be seen in the photo below.
