WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- An 29-year-old man died on the sidewalks of Clay Terrace in Northeast Washington on Thursday morning, the 142nd homicide victim in the District this year.

Witnesses said Antwan Baker of Southeast D.C. and another person standing with him, who was also injured, were each shot multiple times in the 5300 block of Clay Terrace by suspects who then fled in a black sedan. .

"We heard about ten to fifteen shots. Then it was quiet for about five or ten minutes, and then the next thing you know we heard a lot of sirens," said Frank Abercrombie, a plumber who was working in a nearby home when he heard the shots just after 11 a.m.

MPD had no suspect information to share, and no update on the second victim's condition on Thursday afternoon. The second victim remains unidentified.

Witnesses described the shooting as execution-like. They said one side fired 10 to 15 shots, then fled in the black car.

As police investigated the scene, Baker's body laid uncovered on the sidewalk for more than two hours. At least two female relatives of the victim had to be restrained as they ran towards the body, past police tape and officers standing watch.
