Car overturns on BWI parkway

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A body was discovered in a car that overturned into water off the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, the Anne Arundel Fire Department said.

Around 2 p.m. Monday, crews clearing trees off the BW Parkway and Route 198 discovered the overturned car and called 911. When police arrived on scene, they found the body of Marcus Lee Freeman, 26, belted inside of the car.

Officials said he was the son of the City of Laurel Help Desk Coordinator, Mark Freeman. Freeman had been reported missing by Laurel police on October 15. A second missing's person reports was sent out with a description of his car a few days later.

According to authorities, the car was located several hundred feet off the parkway down a steep, heavily wooded embankment. The vehicle was found upside-down, partially submerged in water.

Authorities say there was nothing suspicious about his disappearance, however an investigation is being done.

Condolences are being offered to his family by Mayor Craig A. Moe. The news has been shared with the employees of the City of Laurel.
