Traffic backed up after bicyclist hit in Bethesda

Traffic was backed up Wednesday on southbound Old Georgetown Road for the evening commute.

One person was taken to the hospital after being hit by an SUV in Bethesda, Md.

It happened at the intersection of Old Georgetown Road and Beech Avenue. 

As of about 5:45 p.m., traffic was backed up in the southbound lanes of Old Georgetown Road.

Police said they did not know if the crash was a hit and run.
