Lockdown lifted at Bethesda-Chevy Chase high school after weapons report

Police said a report of a weapon on campus sent the school into lockdown Wednesday morning.

BETHESDA, Md. — Montgomery County Police say no gun was found after a report of a weapon on campus sent the school into lockdown Wednesday morning.

School officials said the school entered lockdown around 10 a.m. The Montgomery County Public Schools Department of School Security and Emergency Management are on scene and the school is cooperating with police.

Additional details about the lockdown were not immediately available. Both police and school officials say more information will be released when it becomes available.

This follows a similar lockdown in Prince William County. On Monday, a report of a gun at Freedom High School sent the school into lockdown. No weapon was found, no shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

On Tuesday, police reported two 15-year-old boys were charged in connection to that case.
