Police ID woman stabbed to death in Arlington County

Just before 5 a.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing in the 3400 block of Washington Boulevard.

ARLINGTON, Va. — Police have identified a woman stabbed to death Monday morning and the man they believe killed her. 

According to the Arlington County Police Department's Homicide and Robbery Unit, officers were called to the 3400 block of Washington Boulevard just before 5 a.m. 

When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been stabbed. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police later identified the woman killed as 37-year-old Shontae Crawford and arrested 35-year-old Alimamy Fornah for her death. 

Investigators claim Crawford and Fornah got into an argument inside the apartment they shared. At some point, the fight escalated and Fornah reportedly stabbed Crawford. 

When help arrived, officers found Crawford stabbed in the hallway of the apartment building but she died at the apartment. 

Fornah was found in the building and taken into custody. He has been charged with murder. Fornah was also injured and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. He is expected to be okay. 

According to police, Crawford is the second homicide reported in Arlington County so far this year.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating separate shootings that occurred Sunday night in D.C.

The first shooting happened in the 2700 block of Langston Place in Southeast around 8:45 p.m. Officials say that two teenage boys were shot, leaving one dead and another conscious and breathing.
