100 and fabulous: Join the Alexandria Centenarian club!

Here's how to nominate someone.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — In a city known for its historic landmarks, there’s no greater treasure than those who’ve lived through it all. In honor of all the Alexandria residents who have lived for 100 years or more, the city is holding a celebration.

The city, in collaboration with its Successful Aging Committee, will celebrate National Centenarian Day on Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. in the Vola Lawson Lobby of City Hall on King Street, and everyone is invited!

Those who wish to be honored during the celebration must be 100 years or older by Dec. 31. Participants will get a certificate honoring their lifetime experiences and achievements. Anyone who would like to participate or nominate someone can do so by completing an online application by Aug. 13.

So, get ready to tip your hats to Alexandria’s centenarians, who remind us that laughter and resilience never go out of style.
